July 2023 Bonfire Marketer of the Month: DICE’s Conor Irvine

Emily Calderon By Emily Calderon Jul 17, 2023

Each month, Braze selects one individual as our Marketer of the Month in order to celebrate the exceptional work being done by members of our Braze Bonfire community. Whether it's providing support for their fellow marketers or going above and beyond by sharing their innovative ideas and strategies, these individuals are making essential contributions to their companies, their users, and the customer engagement space as a whole.

This month, we’re recognizing Conor Irvine, CRM Automation Specialist at DICE. Founded in London in 2014, DICE has transformed how fans discover and buy tickets to live events all over the world. Check out what Conor had to say.

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and how you found yourself the job you’re in now?

Joining the team at DICE has been fantastic. It was actually sparked by attending a talk at Forge London by Ntsako Mokwena, DICE’s Global Head of CRM who is now my manager. Ntsako really championed the importance of building relationships with your customers and being able to ask for help when you don’t know something. I’m passionate about collaborative problem-solving to improve fan experiences [and] bringing CRM, Product, and Data together to enable success at scale, which is what DICE is all about.

What company goals have you focused on first and how have you managed to prioritize?

Currently, I’m focusing on building out a strong foundation of operational efficiency in order to be best-placed to support the enablement of the wider team through our tech stack.

Having a number of stakeholders can make it difficult to manage conflicting priorities. I’m a strong believer in being as communicative as possible when needing to review timelines and priority/order of work. Fortunately at DICE, we have very clear business-wide objectives which feed down into each team, so these conversations start with knowing what’s important.

How do you see Braze as a career accelerant?

Beyond being such a strong platform that is constantly evolving and improving, Braze puts a huge amount of focus on advocating for a hive mentality of knowledge, experience, and insight. In Bonfire, there’s a huge focus on growing and learning together.

What has your experience been like working with the Braze team and community so far?

I love the Braze community and how Bonfire has helped pool knowledge and experiences in such an open and collaborative way from people you wouldn’t otherwise get to talk to.

I’ve also attended and hosted a number of roundtable discussions on specific topics, networked at Grow With Braze events, produced case studies, and spoken at Forge, all designed to link up like-minded people to achieve success and share their stories.

What initiative or campaign are you most excited to work on this year?

One I am particularly excited to work on this year is reexamining how we surface personalized recommendations of events to our fans. We’ll be collaborating really closely with Data, Product, and Engineering to ensure we’re continuing to surface the best events at the best time in the most cost and tech-efficient way possible—one of my favorite things to do.
